Federal Benefits
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (“VA”) administers federal veterans educational benefits -the most common of which is the “GI Bill”.
General Information
There are several versions or chapters of the GI Bill. A veteran may have be eligible for more than one version of the GI Bill. Eligibility is for up to 36 months for any one chapter. Veterans eligible for more than one chapter of the GI Bill may use a second benefit for up to 12 months for a total 48 months of GI Bill usage. Example a veteran that completed three years of active duty then mobilized as a reservist may be eligible for 36 months of the New GI Bill/Post 9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33) and 12 additional months of Reserve Educational Assistance (Chapter 1607).

Student veterans are also eligible for standard financial aid administered by the Department of Education.
